  • Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show (February) - Held at WestWorld in Scottsdale. Beautiful Arabian horses from all 50 states, and more than a dozen countries around the world, compete in the 10 day festival. Also, enjoy shopping, culinary delights, and so much more. Proceeds from the show benefit many charities, such as the March of Dimes, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Phoenix Children's Hospital.
  • Arizona Home and Garden Show (March) - Held every year at the Phoenix Convention Center, this show is the perfect opportunity to experience the latest trends in home and garden products.
  • Gold Rush Days (February) - Looking for an opportunity to experience all things Western? This 3-day rodeo and carnival is Wickenburg's annual pride and a great family event.
  • Matsuri: A Festival of Japan (February) - If you would like to provide your family with an international cultural experience, this festival is ideal. Held at the Historic Heritage Square in Phoenix, it is an opportunity to see authentic Japanese crafts, entertainment, food, and fine arts.
  • Annual Pueblo Grande Indian Market (December) - This culturally rich event features hundreds of Native American artisans with handmade art including jewelry, baskets, pottery, paintings, Kachina dolls, weavings and sculptures - also enjoy traditional Native American entertainment and fry bread. Held annually at the Pueblo Grande Museum and Archaeological Park in downtown Phoenix.

Athletic Events

For the athletically inclined, there is never a shortage of Phoenix events.

  • Phoenix Open Golf Tournament (January) - Held at TPC Scottsdale, the Phoenix Open attracts more spectators than any other golf tournament in the world. According to the official TPC website, "TPC Scottsdale has been named 'one of America's best courses' by Golfweek Magazine, one of the 'Top 50 Golf Resort Destinations in the World' by Condé Nast Traveler, and is consistently named one of the top courses in Arizona."
  • Phoenix International Sportsman's Exhibition (February) - If you love hunting, fishing, and camping, this exhibition at the University of Phoenix Stadium will thrill the inner sportsman in you.
  • Insight Bowl & Tostitos Fiesta Bowl (January) - two electrifying experiences in college football that you won't want to miss! Each held annually at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, and University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, respectively.
  • Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) - From semi-finals to NASCAR cup-series races, you're sure to find racing excitement at PIR. You can even purchase Pre-Race Pit Passes! Located in Avondale.
  • Partners Adaptive Recreation Group - This weekly group provides athletic training for the mentally and physically handicapped. Meeting at the Washington Adult Center, they prepare for events like the Special Olympics.

Holiday Festivities

Around the winter holidays, there is a flurry of Phoenix events in December to ring in the season with holiday cheer.

  • Arizona Celebration of Lights - This mile-long show features millions of lights installed in tunnels, arches, animated figures and still displays. Get food and a picture taken with Santa at the Christmas Village. Held in Glendale, Arizona.
  • Annual Christmas Mariachi Festival - Each year, this festival in downtown Phoenix showcases exceptional performances by the finest Mariachi groups in the world.
  • Grand Menorah Lighting - This family friendly Chanukah event features the lighting of a giant menorah, traditional Jewish music and holiday foods, raffles, dreidels and gelt for the kids, and other activities and crafts. Held at the Westgate City Center in Glendale.
  • Annual Candyland Concert - This free, interactive children's concert and festival takes place at Phoenix's Heritage & Science Park in late November, and usually includes a petting zoo, hands-on kid's activities and rides, thousands of twinkling lights, the area's biggest holiday fireworks display, and a visit from Santa.
  • Santa Claus Express - Are your kids dying to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus? Take a drive to Cottonwood and ride on the Verde Canyon Railroad and enjoy the meeting in style.
  • ZooLights - Held every year at the Phoenix Zoo ZooLights boasts millions of LED lights, hundreds of light sculptures, live animal presentations, and lots of activities and surprises.
